Versatile volleyball coach who can coach girls' and boys’ indoor volleyball teams. Adept at helping players to reach the highest levels of the sport by developing training regimens that match players’ abilities and creating strong competitive teams. Hank Doan:

Hank is a 2nd-year student at Ohlone, majoring in business. Attended James Logan High School and was the varsity captain for 2 years. During high school, Hank played for Coach Oliver for one year at UC Elite.

Jhunel Abellon:

Jhunel Abellon started playing with grass volleyball but then transitioned into indoor, where he developed his love for the sport. He joined his high school team as an opposite/outside hitter. Post high school, Jhunel continued to play at open gyms and competed in adult leagues, where he would develop as a setter.

From 2015 to 2018, he began his first coaching position as the head coach of Oakland Military Institute’s Co-ed Middle School team. Jhunel would stay with the Grizzlies for four seasons and would defend their unbroken record. Along with coaching middle school, Jhunel would become the assistant coach for One Volleyball Club in Alameda for three seasons. He would assist the team by helping them defend their Gold Division status in the Premier League during his second year in 2017.

In 2018, Jhunel would assist in the development of Skyline High School's inaugural men's volleyball team. Coach Abellon would join the coaching staff at Red Rock East Bay Volleyball Club in 2019 as the assistant coach for the 15-1s team.

In the summer of 2019, Jhunel would coach and develop Red Rock East Bay's fledgling beach program, where he guided various pairs to playoffs in the CBVA league. Coach Jhunel still enjoys playing volleyball at the competitive level in multiple leagues and open gyms.

Jhunel currently coaches for his alma mater at Encinal High School as the Head Junior Varsity Coach from 2016 to the present day. In 2025, Jhunel joined the Bay Area Eagles as a head coach.

Outside of volleyball, Coach Abellon is currently a private event manager at The HUB Alameda Pickleball. He enjoys working out weekly, as he believes in an active lifestyle. Jhunel loves to spend time with family and friends over some boba milk tea.

Jovani Lara:

Jovani began his volleyball journey as a middle blocker at UC Davis and has since dedicated his time to coaching the next generation of athletes. With experience coaching JV volleyball and 15U girls in San Francisco, as well as 12U–18U boys and girls teams across the East Bay, Jovani brings a versatile and well-rounded approach to player development.

He has also worked with after-school programs throughout Contra Costa County, introducing volleyball to students from 1st through 8th grade. Passionate about growing the game at all levels, Jovani combines his playing background with years of coaching experience to inspire athletes on and off the court.

Juan Calderon:

Juan Calderon is the Head JV Volleyball Coach at Mercy Burlingame High School with over a decade of coaching experience at the middle school, club, and high school levels. His teams are built on discipline, accountability, and grit, training with intent and competing with purpose.

Juan is known for designing high-energy, progression-based practices that sharpen swing speed, hand contact, and ball control while pushing athletes to grow mentally as well as technically. A strong communicator and culture builder, he sets clear expectations that inspire buy-in and consistency.

A lifelong student of the game, Juan continues to refine his craft through clinics, certifications, and adapting to the evolving demands of modern volleyball. His methodical approach and passion for growth make him a trusted mentor and leader on and off the court.

Mariah Cardenas:

Mariah Cardenas played four years of collegiate volleyball as a setter at a private university in Oklahoma. After earning her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, she became the assistant coach for the women’s volleyball team and head coach of the men’s club volleyball program at NCAA Division II Holy Names University in Oakland, California—all while completing her master’s degree in forensic psychology.

Cardenas has an extensive background in club volleyball, having coached at Red Rock Volleyball Club for six years and at Pulse Volleyball Club for one year prior. In the summer of 2024, she was invited to coach under Kevin Hambly at the Stanford University volleyball camps.

She is entering her seventh year as the head of the Piedmont High School Volleyball Program. In addition to her coaching responsibilities, Cardenas works as a youth advocate, supporting youth in the foster care system.

Adi Enkhbat:

Played 5 years total with 4 years of experience. Assisted Encinal Jr. Jets volleyball and Red Rock VBC clinics for a year. I have also coached the 16 Boys Club at Red Rock.

Camille Dofiles:

Camille is a senior at Dickinson College, double-majoring in biochemistry and molecular biology. She is a recruited NCAA Division III volleyball player, serving as the team’s setter.

As a first-year, Camille earned All-Centennial Conference honors and helped lead Dickinson to its first Centennial Conference Championship appearance since 2008. In her sophomore season, she surpassed 1,000 career assists and entered the school record book, ranking fifth in program history with 56 assists in a single match. During her junior year, she recorded her 500th career dig mid-season. Now in her senior year, Camille has surpassed 1,500 career assists (averaging 5.85 assists per set in a two-setter system), ranking 5th in the program history, and is just three aces away from reaching 100 career aces.

Before college, Camille played nine years of club volleyball with Club Kalani, SF Tremors, UC Elite, and Vision Volleyball Club. She also trained with USA Volleyball’s Future Select National Pipeline in 2017 and 2018. At James Logan High School, she was a four-year varsity starter who helped lead the Colts to four MVAL championships (2018–2021) and a 2018 NCS title. She earned Second Team All-MVAL honors in 2019 and was named MVAL Most Valuable Player and First Team All-MVAL in 2021.

Christopher Dofiles:

Christopher is a second-year college student at Chabot College, planning to major in kinesiology. He attended and played volleyball at James Logan High School, where he was an impactful player as a four-year varsity setter. He was named a First Team All-MVAL in 2024 as a setter. During high school, Chris played 4 years of club volleyball at UC Elite. Before high school, he played in competitive travel AAU basketball teams (for 5 years), playing as a point guard for Oakland Rebels, Oakland Soldiers, and Eastbay Trailblazers.

Camille Concepcion:

Camille is currently a first-year student in college, majoring in pre-nursing. Camille played 5 years of club volleyball as a libero and defensive specialist, Camille enters her second year with the Bay Area Eagles for the 2026 spring season. In 2025, she coached the 12U girls during the spring, led the 11U/12U teams in the summer, and guided the 13U team through fall ball. Camille brings growing experience and enthusiasm to every season, fostering development and teamwork across all age levels.

Gray Ma:

Gray brings three years of coaching experience from Oakland Military Institute, where they worked with middle school athletes to build fundamentals, teamwork, and a love for the game. With over a decade of competitive playing experience, spanning indoor, grass, and sand volleyball. Gray’s journey began as a freshman at Peralta and UC Davis and continues today.

Their passion for the sport translates into a dynamic coaching style that emphasizes growth, consistency, and fostering confidence in every athlete.

Grigori Barbachov:

Grigori has over 20 years of experience as a volleyball player, both indoor and outdoor. His most recent coaching experiences include assisting with coaching some boys' teams at MVVC and coaching the boys' junior varsity team at his local high school. When he is not coaching, he is working as a software engineer and spending time with his 3 children.

Ihliyana Tran:

Ihliyana enters her second year coaching with the Eagles, bringing valuable experience across multiple age groups. Last season, she led the Girls 11U team during the regular season, coached at the Future Eagles Camp, and guided the Girls 11/12U team through summer play.

Her coaching journey began with CYO, where she coached a fifth-grade team and now continues with them into sixth grade. Currently, Ihliyana is expanding her impact by coaching Boys 13U as well as Girls 10U and 11U Fall Ball teams and the 11U Girls National team.

She is passionate about developing young athletes, building strong fundamentals, and fostering a positive environment where players grow in both skill and confidence.

Jessica Ai:

Jessica is a sophomore at UC Berkeley, majoring in molecular and cell biology. Jessica began playing volleyball at 12 and went on to play four years on the varsity team at Notre Dame High School, where she earned both the MVP and Coach’s Award during her time there.

Over the years, Jessica competed with several high-level club programs, developing as a well-rounded athlete in both indoor and beach volleyball. She is currently a sophomore at UC Berkeley, where she plays for the Cal Club Volleyball team and continues to challenge herself at the collegiate level. During her freshman year, she coached at Red Rock, assisting the 15-2 and 14-1 teams.

Since arriving in Berkeley, Jessica has enjoyed giving back to the volleyball community through coaching. She values creating a positive, supportive environment where players can grow in both confidence and skill and where teamwork and discipline are at the heart of every practice.

Maddie Lew:

Maddie Lew is beginning her coaching career after 11 years of playing volleyball. Currently a senior at Castro Valley High School and a member of the varsity team, she brings a fresh player’s perspective, enthusiasm, and passion for the game. Maddie is excited to share her love of volleyball and help athletes grow as she prepares to continue her own journey in college.

Mark Saur:

With over five years of coaching experience at both the high school and club level, Coach Mark believes in building programs and players from the ground up. Like a dedicated builder, he starts with the foundation: fundamentals, mindset, and team culture. He takes the time to connect with his athletes, understand what drives them, and help bring out their full potential, on and off the court. Whether leading the boys' team at Academy SF from a 0–10 record to the playoffs or raising funds to support his teams, Coach Mark is all about resilience, self-belief, and creating something strong that lasts.

Nick Tham:

Nickolas is a second-year college student at the College of Alameda with plans to transfer to UC Irvine, where he intends to pursue a major in public health sciences. He attended Encinal High School and played 3 years of volleyball as an outside hitter/middle. After high school, he coached 13-2 girls at RedRock Alameda and is currently coaching 14-1 boys.

Tyler was a head coach for a Red Rock Boys team, 3 girls BAVC teams, 2 boys BAVC teams, the MHS boys high school team, and the San Jose State University Boys Club volleyball team. He started coaching in late 2023 and continues to now, and there are many more years to come.

Zoey Ranillo:

Zoey is entering her second year with the Bay Area Eagles this spring. Last season, she coached the Girls 12s team, followed by leading the 12s through summer training and the 13s during fall ball. Zoey brings growing experience and enthusiasm to every team she coaches, with a focus on developing young athletes’ skills and love for the game.
